About Wembley Stadium

Rebuilt on the site of the 1923 Empire Stadium after demolition began in 2002, the 90,000-seat bowl was handed over in March 2007 at a cost of 798 million pounds. Designed by Populous with Foster and Partners, it is spanned by a 133-metre lattice arch stretching 315 metres, which carries most of the roof load and lets sections retract to let sunlight reach the pitch. The venue has staged the 2011, 2013 and 2024 Champions League finals, eight matches at Euro 2020 including the final, and the 2012 Olympic football gold-medal matches.
