About VTB Arena

Two venues share a single shell on Leningradsky Avenue, where the old Central Dynamo Stadium was closed for demolition in 2008. Erick van Egeraat's concept of setting a football ground and an ice arena inside the retained bowl was carried through in a final design by MANICA Architecture, and the permit for use arrived in November 2018. The indoor arena opened on 4 January 2019, while the football pitch had to be relaid from scratch and staged its first match on 26 May 2019, a 3-3 draw.
