About Volksparkstadion

Built between 1951 and 1953 beside the Altona Volkspark in Hamburg's Bahrenfeld district, the ground was reconstructed almost entirely in the late 1990s, the rebuilt arena being inaugurated on 2 September 2000. League capacity now stands at 57,000, falling to 51,500 for all-seated international fixtures. Matches at the 1974 and 2006 World Cups were played here, and five games of UEFA Euro 2024 followed, four in the group stage plus a quarter-final. Sponsorship has previously given it the names AOL Arena, HSH Nordbank Arena and Imtech Arena.
