About VEB Arena
Nine years of stop-start construction on Khodynka Field produced this 30,000-seat ground, which finally opened on 10 September 2016 with a 3-0 win over Terek Grozny. Work had begun in 2007 but stalled repeatedly amid land disputes and funding problems, pushing the bill towards $350 million. A 142-metre office tower shaped like the UEFA Cup rises from the south-western corner, with further office blocks filling the other three, so the complex functions as a mixed-use development. Two tiers of seating sit beneath a tilted roof.
Home club
CSKA Moscow is a Russian football club from the capital, founded in 1911 and historically the club of the Soviet and Russian army.
