About Valley Parade
Opened in 1886 for Manningham's rugby club, the ground switched to association football in 1903 and has housed Bradford City ever since. Archibald Leitch reshaped it in 1908, leaving the steep Kop that still climbs the hillside. On 11 May 1985 fire tore through the wooden main stand and killed 56 spectators; a reconstruction costing around £2.6 million reopened the ground in December 1986. Five stands now enclose the pitch, capacity sits at 24,840, and the record crowd of 39,146 dates from a 1911 tie with Burnley.
