About Unipol Domus

Cagliari needed somewhere to play once the Stadio Sant'Elia closed, and this compact arena was put up beside it for around eight million euros, opening in September 2017 as the Sardegna Arena. Conceived as a temporary solution, it was reworked in 2018 and formally completed in 2021, when the Unipol Domus name was adopted. It holds 16,412 spectators and is billed as the Cagliari Calcio Arena in UEFA competition because of sponsorship rules. The Italy national team has also used the ground for selected fixtures.
