About State Farm Arena
Replacing the demolished Omni Coliseum, this downtown Atlanta arena opened in September 1999 at a cost of $213.5 million to a design by Populous, and carried the name Philips Arena until State Farm acquired the naming rights in 2018. Its original plan placed every luxury box and club seat along one side of the floor, a layout later imitated elsewhere. A $192.5 million overhaul finished in 2018 redistributed premium seating and hung a video board three times larger than its predecessor. NBA All-Star Games were played here in 2003 and 2021.
