About Stadio Renato Dall'Ara

Designed by Giulio Ulisse Arata and inaugurated in 1927 as the Stadio Littoriale, the Bologna ground pioneered the integration of terracing into the building's own structure, an approach later copied widely. A monumental arch once carried an equestrian statue of Mussolini, destroyed in 1943. Known as the Stadio Comunale after the war, it took its present name in 1983 in memory of a long-serving club president. Matches at the 1934 and 1990 World Cups were played here, along with rugby union internationals in the mid-1990s.
