About Stadio Pier Cesare Tombolato
Named after Piercesare Tombolato, a Cittadella goalkeeper who died in hospital after a collision during a 1957 match, the ground remains one of the smallest venues in Italian professional football. Its 7,623 places fall well short of the 10,000 seats normally demanded of Serie B clubs, so the Italian federation granted a special dispensation. Rebuilding completed for the 2008-09 season enlarged the stands, and the reworked arena staged its first league fixture against Ancona in October 2008.
