About Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi
When it opened in 1963 the Bentegodi was a modern showpiece but far bigger than Hellas Verona then required, and it carries the name of a nineteenth-century local sporting benefactor. Preparation for the 1990 World Cup added an extra tier, roof cover and improved infrastructure, leaving 39,211 seats around a pitch of 105 by 67 metres and ranking it eighth-largest in Italy. A later refit installed a 999.5 kW photovoltaic array of more than 13,000 cadmium telluride modules. Women's football, rugby, athletics and concerts also use the site.
