About Stadio dei Marmi

Named for the marble quarries that made the town famous, Carrara's municipal ground opened on 9 January 1955 in the Perticata district, replacing the cramped Fossa dei Leoni pitch. Its elliptical layout and athletics track were conceived as a scaled-down echo of Rome's Olympic stadium and originally held just under 10,000. A synthetic surface arrived in 2013; the structure was declared unsafe in 2018 and reworked, reopening with 4,194 places once Carrarese reached Serie B. Since 2005 it has officially commemorated four local competitors from the 1936 Olympics.
