About Stade Pierre-Mauroy

Eiffage delivered this bowl at Villeneuve-d'Ascq in August 2012, after UEFA requirements left Lille's older facilities inadequate for European ties; the stadium itself cost some 282 million euros within a much larger overall bill. A retractable roof and a hydraulic mechanism let the 50,186-seat football layout become a 30,000-capacity indoor arena in roughly three hours, with smaller settings from 6,900 upwards. Known as Grand Stade Lille Metropole until June 2013, it staged Euro 2016 fixtures, 2023 Rugby World Cup matches and Olympic basketball and handball in 2024.
