About Stade Michel d'Ornano

Opened in 1993 to replace the ageing Stade de Venoix, this Caen enclosure holds 20,300 and takes its name from Michel d'Ornano, a Normandy politician who led the regional council. France's senior side and the under-21 team have both been staged here on several occasions. The largest recorded gate, 20,972, watched Stade Malherbe face Marseille in 2004; attendances swing with the tenant's division, filling the bowl in Ligue 1 and settling nearer 15,000 in the second tier.
