About Stade Gabriel Montpied

Jacques Kalisz designed the original ground, which was built in 1995 with room for a little under 12,000 spectators. Rugby sevens has featured alongside football, the inaugural France Women's Sevens arriving in 2016 and the Clermont-Ferrand Sevens the year after. Building work started in the summer of 2023 cut the stadium to roughly 10,700 seats for that season once the Tribune Limagne was removed; the completed scheme lifts the figure to 17,230 from 2025-26.
