About Stade de l'Abbé-Deschamps

Opened in October 1918 on the Route de Vaux, the ground carries the name of Abbe Ernest-Theodore Deschamps, the priest who founded Auxerre's club in 1905. Four sides now enclose the grass pitch: the Tribune Leclerc, the Tribune d'honneur, the Tribune Vaux and the stands on the tennis-court side, together holding 18,541. A thorough modernisation was completed in 1994. France have used it for internationals, thrashing Azerbaijan 10-0 in Euro 1996 qualifying, and the record crowd of 19,345 saw Georgia visit in June 2007.
