About Somerset Park
Commissioned in 1888 by Ayr FC as a replacement for Beresford Park, the ground passed to Ayr United when the town's two clubs merged in 1910, and the club bought the site outright for 2,500 pounds in 1920. Archibald Leitch designed the Main Stand, finished that same year at a cost of 8,000 pounds. The Railway End dates from 1933, the Somerset Road End was covered in 1971, and a new North Terrace stand was completed in 2024. A record 25,225 watched Rangers visit in September 1969.
