About Rugby Park

Kilmarnock moved to the present site in 1899, having used an earlier Rugby Park from 1877. The ground was gutted and rebuilt in a 49-week programme during 1994-95, producing three new stands, the Moffat, Chadwick and East, the last of which tapers short of the goal line because housing hems it in. Blackburn Rovers provided the opposition at the reopening. Undersoil heating arrived in 1999, an artificial pitch in 2014 and safe standing in 2019. Scotland played home internationals here in 1997 while Hampden Park was rebuilt.
