About Priestfield Stadium

The name Priestfield Stadium dates from 1947; the Kent ground, in use since 1893, had been known first as the Athletic Ground and then as Priestfield Road. A rebuild from 1997 onwards left four all-seater stands, the Medway Stand, the Rainham End, the Gordon Road Stand and the temporary Brian Moore Stand, and cut a capacity once near 20,000 down to 11,582. Brighton & Hove Albion ground-shared here between 1997 and 1999. The record attendance, 23,002, came for an FA Cup tie with Queens Park Rangers in 1948.
