About Ostseestadion

Rostock's ground first opened in September 1954 and was later demolished and replaced on the same site by the present bowl, which staged its opening fixture in August 2001. Lighting masts installed in the late 1960s survived the rebuild and remain in use. Capacity stands at 29,000, including a thousand business seats and around nine thousand standing places; for international fixtures the terraces are converted to seating, reducing the figure to roughly 25,000. Between 2007 and 2015 a banking sponsor's name replaced the traditional one, an arrangement ended early.
