About Ostalb-Arena

Inauguration came on 4 September 1949, with a 3-5 defeat by Mainz 05, the municipal Waldstadion having been laid out in woodland on the edge of Aalen in 1948. Roughly 14,500 people fit inside, split between some 4,685 covered seats along the north and south sides and close to ten thousand standing places on the east and west banks, around a third of them sheltered. Sponsorship has altered the name more than once, the ground trading as the Scholz Arena before adopting its present title.
