About Olympia

Opened in the summer of 1898, the Helsingborg venue spent its first nine decades as a rudimentary athletics-and-football ground with wooden stands and poor lighting, before a long sequence of rebuilds beginning in the mid-1980s and running most recently from 2014 to 2017. It now holds around sixteen thousand, part standing, with the stands convertible to all-seated use. Two matches of the 1958 World Cup were played here, and seven more during the 1995 Women's World Cup. The attendance record, 26,154, was set against Malmö FF in May 1954.
