About North Road

Purchased from local landowner Reg Girling for £400, the North Road site staged its first Brightlingsea fixture on 7 September 1929 against Parkeston Railway. Early facilities amounted to little more than a bench-seated stand, dressing rooms and a press box that doubled as the officials' changing area. Improvements have come piecemeal in the modern era: floodlights arrived in 1988, a 107-seat stand bought from eBay was installed in 2014 and a covered terrace holding 150 followed in 2017, steadily enlarging the enclosure on the edge of the Essex sailing town.
