About Mercedes-Benz Stadium

Eight translucent triangular panels form the roof here, sliding apart along parallel rails in roughly eight minutes to suggest a bird opening its wings, the feature that pushed the $1.6 billion project past its original schedule. Conceived as a replacement for the Georgia Dome, it opened in August 2017 and wraps the field in a 360-degree halo video board covering some 62,350 square feet. Mechanised curtains reduce the bowl to around 42,500 for Atlanta United matches; Super Bowl LIII was played here in 2019.
