About King Power Stadium
Completed in the summer of 2002 for around 35 million pounds, the bowl was designed by The Miller Partnership and built by Birse Stadia, ending more than a century at nearby Filbert Street. Four continuous stands, now named North, East, South and West, ring the pitch; the North was originally the Lineker Stand and the South, also called the Spion Kop, was the Fosse Stand. Walkers Stadium branding lasted until 2011. Alongside football it has staged internationals, 2015 Rugby World Cup fixtures and concerts, with a record crowd of about 32,500 for club rugby in 2006.
