About Jassim bin Hamad Stadium
Named after a former Qatari minister of youth and sports, the Al Sadd ground opened in 1975 and mixes modern construction with traditional motifs, its exterior shaped to echo the sails of dhow boats. A retractable roof lets the interior climate be controlled. Three rounds of refurbishment followed, timed to the 2004 Gulf Cup, then 2010 and 2025. The arena has staged 2019 FIFA Club World Cup ties, 2006 Asian Games events, two Supercoppa Italiana finals and seven matches at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, and France trained here during the 2022 World Cup.
