About Grünwalder Stadion

Dating from 1911, the municipal ground on Grünwalder Straße was 1860 Munich's principal home until 1995 and also housed Bayern Munich from 1926 until their move to the Olympiastadion in 1972. Its defining structure is the curved Westkurve terrace, which takes roughly 9,000 standing spectators. A crowd of 58,560 watched 1860 face 1. FC Nürnberg in 1948, far beyond the present limit of about 15,000. The venue carried the names Heinrich-Zisch-Stadion and Hanns-Braun-Kampfbahn during the 1930s and 1940s. 1860's senior side returned in 2017 after relegation, and Bayern's reserve and women's teams have also played here.
