About Glebe Park

A mature hedge running along more than half of one touchline is this Angus ground's best-known feature, and it has long constrained development on that side; in 2009 a pitch only 67 yards wide fell short of UEFA requirements until remedial work settled the matter. The ground opened in 1919 with a single portable stand, gaining a pavilion and covered terracing after Brechin City joined the Scottish League in 1929. A 290-seat main stand arrived in 1981 and a 1,228-seat structure at the Trinity Road end followed with grant aid. Floodlights were first used against Hibernian in 1977, and a Scottish Cup tie with Aberdeen in 1973 drew 8,123.
