About Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla

Replacing a ground destroyed by the 1947 Cádiz explosion, this arena on the Plaza de Madrid opened on 3 September 1955, when Barcelona won the inaugural fixture 4-0. An athletics track originally ringed the pitch, disappearing in 1984 when the main stand was rebuilt. Between 2003 and 2012 all four sides were replaced in turn for around 68 million euros, the work adding underground parking, retail units and a hotel built into the main stand. Called Estadio Ramón de Carranza until 2021, it seats 20,724 and staged Spain's 7-0 win over Malta in 2019.
