About Estadio Hernando Siles

Perched in the Miraflores borough some 3,582 metres above sea level, the ground opened on 16 January 1930 and was originally known as Estadio Olímpico La Paz. Reconstruction from 1975 ahead of the 1977 Bolivarian Games doubled its size and improved the lighting, and it became an all-seater holding 41,143 in 2007. It staged the 1963 South American Championship and the 1997 Copa América final, and its altitude prompted a short-lived FIFA ban on high-elevation venues that was lifted in 2008.
