About Estádio do Fontelo

Completed in December 1928 and opened to the public that same month, the Viseu ground remains the regular home of Académico de Viseu. Its profile rose when Portugal staged the 2003 UEFA European Under-17 Championship: the stadium hosted a group match on 7 May that year and later the tournament final. Nearly a century after that opening, it is still in use for competitive football in the city.
