About Estadio de Balaídos

Jenaro de la Fuente drew up the plans and the ground opened on 30 December 1928, the hosts marking it with a 7-0 win over Real Unión. Known as Stadium de Balaídos until 1946, it was overhauled for the 1982 World Cup with a completely rebuilt Rio stand. A four-phase reconstruction launched in 2015 has since replaced most of the ground, the Marcador stand reopening in 2023 with 6,209 seats. Four stands, Tribuna, Rio, Marcador and Gol, enclose the pitch; the record crowd of 45,000 dates from May 1982.
