About Estádio Cidade de Coimbra
Rebuilt around its existing athletics track for UEFA Euro 2004, the municipal ground reopened in September 2003 with a Rolling Stones concert and seats 29,622. Glass façades and a sweeping roof cover roughly two thirds of the seating, and the scheme by Plarq with London's KSS Design Group anchored a wider complex of swimming pools, a pavilion and a shopping centre. Besides European Championship group matches, the venue staged the 2020 Taça de Portugal final between Benfica and Porto, and has hosted concerts by U2, Madonna and Coldplay.
Home club
Académica de Coimbra, formally Associação Académica de Coimbra, is a Portuguese football club representing the historic university city of Coimbra.
