About Estadio Atanasio Girardot
Inaugurated on 19 March 1953 and named for the independence-era officer Atanasio Girardot, the ground anchors a municipal sports complex in the Laureles district and is shared by two Medellín clubs. Refurbishment before the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup stripped out the running track and high perimeter fencing, and further work in 2021 added press and hospitality space. A large redevelopment is intended to add a third tier and raise capacity towards 60,000. Concerts are also held here.
