About Elland Road

Known originally as the Old Peacock Ground, the Beeston venue opened in 1897 for a rugby league side and saw its first football in 1904. Leeds United have occupied it since 1919. The cantilevered East Stand, finished in 1993 at a cost of £5.5 million, was then the largest structure of its type anywhere. Peak attendance reached 57,892 for an FA Cup replay with Sunderland in March 1967. Three Euro 96 group games, rugby union World Cup fixtures and rugby league internationals have also been staged here.
