About Edgbaston Cricket Ground

Play at the Birmingham ground runs between the Pavilion and City ends, on twelve acres of Calthorpe Estate meadow leased at £5 an acre. The first cricket was staged here in June 1886 and the first Test, an Ashes match, in 1902. A £32 million redevelopment in 2010-11 produced the South and West stands, joining the Eric Hollies, Raglan and Priory structures around a bowl seating roughly 25,000. Britain's first competitive floodlit day-night fixture was held here in 1997 and England's first day-night Test in 2017.
