About Deir ez-Zor Municipal Stadium

Fighting for control of the city left this 13,000-capacity municipal ground badly damaged between 2015 and 2017, when it was held by Islamic State militants. The multi-purpose arena is used mainly for football and is the home of Al-Fotuwa. Reconstruction of the wider site has been gradual: a sports training complex opened along the stadium's western perimeter on 26 December 2023, adding two further pitches together with changing rooms and meeting facilities.
