About Cardiff City Stadium

Replacing Ninian Park, the Leckwith ground rose on the site of the old Cardiff Athletics Stadium as part of a 60-acre redevelopment costed at around 100 million pounds, opening on 22 July 2009 after weather delays. Enlargement of the Ninian Stand in 2014 added roughly 5,150 seats and hospitality space, taking the four-sided bowl to 33,280. Cardiff Blues played rugby here until 2012, and the venue has staged the 2014 UEFA Super Cup, the 2017 Women's Champions League final and concerts by Stereophonics and Elton John.
