About Cappielow Park

By the Clyde at Greenock, across East Hamilton Street from the water and beside the A8, this enclosure has been Greenock Morton's home since 1879. Scotland met Wales here in 1902, and a league decider against Celtic in 1922 drew 23,500 but ended in a riot that damaged the ground and surrounding area. Floodlights were first used in 1958. The main stand dates from 1931, the Wee Dublin end was seated in 1981, and the covered Cowshed faces the open Sinclair Street end. Clydebank, Ayr United and Celtic's under-20s have all groundshared.
