About Bulgarian Army Stadium
Set within Sofia's Borisova gradina park, the ground began life in 1923 as Athletic Park and passed through the names Chavdar and People's Army before taking its present title. Architect Anton Karavelov oversaw the reconstruction carried out between 1965 and 1967 that shaped the stadium supporters knew for decades. The last match on the old ground came in December 2023 against Ludogorets Razgrad, and demolition started the following spring. A football-specific replacement built to UEFA Category 4 standards, with rainwater harvesting and solar panels, has since been rising on the site.
Home club
CSKA Sofia is a Bulgarian football club from the capital and, founded in 1948, the record champion of Bulgaria with more than thirty national titles.
