About Brügglifeld

Opened on 12 October 1924 with a friendly against FC Zürich, the compact Aarau ground sits on the edge of neighbouring Suhr. Of its 9,249 places only about 1,499 are covered, the remainder being open terracing, and the Swiss football authorities have questioned whether the venue is adequate for the top flight. A main stand was added in 1982 and a smaller grandstand followed in the 1990s alongside renovated standing areas. Proposals to replace it with a larger Mittelland Arena came to nothing.
