About Brandywell

Laid out beside Lone Moor Road on the edge of the Bogside, the ground has staged senior football since Derry City's first match there in August 1929. Between 1971 and 1985 only greyhound meetings and junior fixtures were held, the club being absent from senior competition. Floodlights arrived in 1990 and a cantilever stand a year later, while a 2016-18 overhaul brought a 3G synthetic pitch and all-seated accommodation; a new North Stand opened in April 2025. A record 9,800 watched an FAI Cup tie against Finn Harps in 1986.
