About Borussia-Park
Costing some 85 million euros, this Mönchengladbach ground opened in July 2004 to replace the ageing Bökelbergstadion, which no longer met modern safety standards or international requirements. Terracing for 16,145 standing spectators converts to seating for UEFA fixtures, trimming the 54,057 domestic capacity to around 46,000. Matches at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup were played here, although the stadium was passed over for both the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2024. Occupancy has averaged above 95 percent.
Home club
One of the great names of German football, Borussia Mönchengladbach is based in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of the same name.
