About Blundell Park

Sitting barely two feet above sea level, the lowest senior football ground in the United Kingdom opened in the summer of 1899 when Grimsby Town left Abbey Park; Luton Town were the first visitors, drawing 3-3 before 4,000 people. The Main Stand dates from 1901 and is the oldest in the Football League. Conversion to an all-seater in 1995 cut capacity from around 27,000 to 9,052. A record 31,651 attended an FA Cup tie with Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1937.
