About Blue Water Arena

Athletics and football have shared this corner of Esbjerg since 22 September 1929, when a pitch ringed by a running track and jumping areas opened inside the Idrætspark. Post-war reconstruction stalled for want of money until a new grandstand was finished in 1955. Known simply as Esbjerg Stadion until a sponsor's name arrived in 2007, it now holds 17,442 people, of whom 11,286 are seated. Denmark have played there twice, and the 1999 European Youth Olympic Festival used the ground.
