About BayArena
Opened on 2 August 1958 as the Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion with room for 20,000, the Leverkusen ground was gradually rebuilt from 1986 into an all-seater holding 22,500 by 1997, gaining its present name a year later, with an attached hotel completed in 1999. Work completed in 2009 added a second tier on three sides under an oval roof, producing a horseshoe layout with boxes at the southern end and 30,210 places for league fixtures. Four matches of the 2011 Women's World Cup were played here.
