About Audi Field
Buzzard Point, a riverside corner of southwest Washington, finally gave D.C. United a permanent home after a decade of abandoned stadium schemes elsewhere in the city. Ground was broken in February 2017 and the soccer-specific bowl, designed by Populous with Marshall Moya Design at a cost near 450 million dollars, staged its first match in July 2018. Bermuda grass covers the pitch, which is also used by the Washington Spirit and other tenants. The 2023 MLS All-Star Game drew a record crowd of 20,621.
