About Akhmat Arena

Federal funding was allocated in 2004, with design documentation completed the following year, before building work started in 2006 and ran for roughly five years. The 30,000-seat Grozny ground opened on 11 May 2011, replacing the smaller Sultan Bilimkhanov Stadium as the region's main football venue. An inaugural gala mixed performances by Toto Cutugno and Craig David with a celebrity exhibition match, and the first competitive fixture followed on 20 May 2011. The arena later staged the 2012-13 Russian Cup final and served as Egypt's training base during the 2018 World Cup.
