About Ajinomoto Stadium
Chōfu's arena rose on part of Kantō Mura, a tract in western Tokyo once occupied by United States forces, and opened in March 2001 with room for 49,970. It became the first Japanese venue to sell its naming rights when a food company took the title in 2003. Shared by FC Tokyo and Tokyo Verdy, the ground also hosted the opening match of the 2019 Rugby World Cup and rugby at the 2020 Olympics.
