About Abbey Stadium
Cambridge United have played on Newmarket Road since the ground staged its first match on 31 August 1932, on land donated by club president Henry Francis. A grandstand followed in 1934 and further stands through the 1950s, while an all-seated South Stand arrived in 2002. The terraced Habbin Stand and North Terrace survive alongside the all-seater Main Stand, giving a capacity of 7,937. Sold in 2004 and again in 2010, the ground was bought back by the club in 2022. Its record attendance is 14,000, set against Chelsea in a 1970 friendly.
